PLC Programmer

Job Description

The successful candidate will program and develop machine software for custom automated industrial equipment and production lines. We are looking for highly motived PLC Programmers who can program from scratch through to final commissioning, and remote service support. In addition, these professionals must have an excellent understanding of Electrical, Control, Mechanical, Pneumatic, and Hydraulic systems. They also will need to travel globally and at times with short notice. The candidate will be an integral part of controls teams in Canada, US and New Zealand. Office time will be spent at our design office in Lindsay, Ontario. The field of PLC Programmer includes a wide range of projects related to Bulk Material Handling Projects and/or Sawmill, Lumber Handling Machinery and R&D Projects.

Key Duties Include:*

  • Read and understand electrical schematics using AutoCAD Electrical and printed field drawings.
  • Collaborate with Mechanical, Fluid Power, Electrical and Controls teams from Kick-Off through to final commissioning of site(s).
  • Programming of Allen Bradley (ControlLogix and CompactLogix) using RSLogix and Studio 5000 software suite.
  • Design, Program and Implement operator interfaces and HMI’s using Allen Bradley’s Factory Talk software.
  • Must have excellent understanding and practical knowledge of various motor control applications including Starter/Overload combinations, Soft Starters, Servo Drives, and VFD’s.
  • Setup and configuration of CIP Motion applications for stand-alone and coordinated systems
  • Must have understanding and the ability to setup and configure industrial networks - Ethernet/IP.
  • Automated Industrial Machinery PLC Logic Design and on-site commissioning.
  • On-Site/remote support Troubleshooting and commissioning of Hardware including; 
    •   Motor Control Panels, Consoles etc.
    •   PLC’s
    •   VFD’s
    •   Servos
    •   Digital/Analogue Field Devices and IO
    •   Specialty sensors and Scanners
    •   Actuators, Motors, Encoders etc.
    •   Machine Vision Systems
  • Provide onsite project support when required which includes startup, debug and commissioning. Must be able to travel with short notice. (International travel) - (travel will be required on occasion).
  • Participate in Remote Service Support of sites. This includes being scheduled for on call support of new and existing installations on a rotational basis with the controls group.

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • College diploma as a minimum or equivalent industry experience.
  • 2 years minimum experience working with automated industrial equipment and production lines. Working Experience in automation or electrical design is required.
  • Excellent comprehension of PLC's, programming and related hardware within the Rockwell Architecture (Allen Bradley Products preferred).
  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team (both internal and remote), including mechanical, electrical, control, fluid power, and CAD support.
  • Solid knowledge of electrical field devices. – limit switches of various types, encoders, scanners, etc.
  • Excellent understanding of motor control, servos and VFDs etc.
  • Experience in Autodesk AutoCAD 2019 or later, and Microsoft Office is an asset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to communicate with Project Managers, Site/Office and Sales Teams on a regular basis.
  • Ability to work extra hours to ensure a successful project when required.
  • Self-motivated, driven individual with excellent problem-solving skills, responsible for the completion of task at hand and to be a positive ambassador to our client base.

Industrial Production Worker

Job Description

The successful candidate will be assigned a diverse variety of tasks to support our rapidly growing manufacturing operation. We are looking for candidates with experience in any combination of the tasks required to cut, fabricate, weld, assemble, package, organize, load/unload and generally support industrial equipment manufacturing.

Key Duties Include:

  • Fabricate metal components using a shear, bandsaw, drill press
  • Move material both manually and using cranes/forklift
  • Prep parts for next process (clean, de-burr, label, mask for painting)
  • Support shipping of product (packaging, banding, loading trucks)
  • Set up and operate hand and power tools (grinder, drill)
  • Work safely in accordance with company safety policies and procedures

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience measuring and cutting metal
  • Ability to work independently on a set of work instructions
  • Comfortable with heavy, physically demanding jobs
  • Knowledge of relevant safety standards and willingness to use personal protective equipment
  • Positive attitude and able to work in teams
  • Attention to detail and strong work ethic

Millwright

The successful candidate will be responsible for assembling our custom designed industrial equipment to required specifications. This position includes international travel to customer sites to install, commission new equipment and troubleshoot existing equipment on site. You will interact and collaborate with all departments, including our in house engineering and machine shop in order to design and build our custom machinery.

Key Duties Include*

  • Precision alignment of rotating equipment.
  • Assembly of belt, chain, and vibrating conveyors.
  • Integration of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrically driven equipment
  • Reviewing detailed drawings to perform precision installation
  • Troubleshooting and adjustment pre-shipment and at customer locations
  • Work safely in accordance with company safety policies and procedures
  • Evaluating equipment performance and providing proposals for improvement
  • Support Engineering using your mechanical experience to resolve customer issues
  • Participate in Pre/Post-Design reviews.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Completion of 3rd year of apprenticeship
  • Preference given to those experienced in machine building and installation
  • Knowledge of sawmill machinery and controls considered an asset
  • Solid knowledge of Hydraulic and Pneumatic components and devices.
  • Excellent communication, troubleshooting and problem solving and decision making skills
  • Ability to work extra hours to ensure a successful project when required
  • Knowledge of relevant safety standards and willingness to use personal protective equipment

Welder/Fitter

Job Description:
The successful candidate will be responsible to layout, fit and fabricate our custom designed industrial equipment to required specifications. This position may include opportunities for international travel to customer sites to install, commission, upgrade or repair industrial equipment. You will interact and collaborate with all departments, including our in house engineering and machine shop in order to design and build our custom machinery.

  • Read, analyze and interpret mechanical drawin
  • Recognize, set up and operate hand and power tools common to the trade
  • Weld components using either SMAW or GMAW in various positions (vertical, horizontal, overhead)
  • Work safely in accordance with company safety policies and procedures
  • Evaluating equipment performance and providing proposals for improvement
  • Support Engineering using your mechanical experience to resolve customer issues
  • Participate in Pre/Post-Design reviews.

CO-OP Jr Electrical Systems Detailer Student

Job Description:
The successful Winter (Start Jan 2022) CO-OP student candidate will possess basic to mid-level skills in AutoCAD Electrical in the position of Junior Electrical System Detailer and will work in our design office in Lindsay, Ontario. Based on the candidate’s experience, they will use their skills as part of Engineering Department team working on multi-million dollar industrial automated systems.

Key Duties Include
  • AutoCAD Electrical Detailing
  • Independent and team efforts on large multi-discipline design and detail projects.
  • Complete as-built drawing mark-ups.
  • Detailing, bill of material, issuing, processing, plotting, printing, distribution of drawings and material lists.
  • Project documentation and equipment manuals* (Depending on the candidate’s strengths – subject to vary slightly).
  • Plus other duties as assigned.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Very organized, able to multitask and able to meet deadlines.
  • Basic to mid-level design/detailing experience using AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Working knowledge and experience with drafting fundamentals and practices a benefit.

Mechanical Designer

Job Description:
The successful candidate will possess strong general mechanical skills to work in our design office in Lindsay, Ontario.   • Lead/coordinate/communicate with detailers as a term to complete design project for manufacturing within the TS Manufacturing facility.
  • Be a part of a team that: Completes the design cycle (Kick Off Meeting, Product Selection, Design, Detail, Check, Markup, Approval, Bill of Materials, Issuing, General Assembly Drawings and Fabrication/Assembly Technical Shop Support.
  • Participate in pre/post-design reviews

       Project Manager

Job Description:
The successful candidate will possess strong Project Management skills and will work at our design office in Lindsay, Ontario. Working knowledge and experience regarding the Sawmill Industry would be an asset but is not required. TS Manufacturing is seeking a Project Manager to lead team members to successful completion of their tasks within allocated timelines, budgets, and scopes of manufacturing projects.

Responsibilities:
  • Completing detailed project schedules and budget allocations, while monitoring and reporting on a project's overall status.
  • Identify and secure sub-contractors to assist in the completion of the project as necessary.
  • Organize installation dates with the client and TS managers.
  • Manage all communications with the client.
  • Review and initiate invoicing with Accounts Receivable.
  • Allocate work to team members while reviewing project completion in relation to timelines.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent would be an asset.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience managing large projects from beginning to end
  • Working experience in one or more of the following specialty areas; 
  • o Experience in Manufacturing Engineering as it relates to fabrication/assembly of automated equipment
    o Bulk material handling equipment and processes design
    o Project management on integrated mechanical systems and startups
    o Sawmill/lumber breakdown/handling design
    o Project management on integrated mechanical systems and startups
  • Experience in Autodesk AutoCAD 2010 or later, and Microsoft Office
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Occasional travel may be required. Must have valid Passport.
